The Deanery of Stamford

Uniting in Christ to Serve Christ and to Proclaim Christ

Stamford is Deanery 13 of the Diocese of Lincoln and consists of five parishes in the town of Stamford and seven village parishes to the east of the town. We work alongside our brothers and sisters of the other Christian denominations in the town to proclaim the good news of God's love as revealed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ both in the words we say and the work we do.

The Deanery Synod is responsible for the prayerful discernment of the Church's mission in its area of the diocese and for ensuring that the resources God gives us are properly used to his glory and for the good of his people. The Synod works with the Parochial Church Councils of each parish and with neighbouring Deanery Synods and the Diocesan Synod. It is chaired jointly by the Dean of Stamford and the Lay Chair and all parishes are represented through their licenced parish clergy and elected Representatives of the Laity.

The members of the Deanery Synod are responsible for electing the Diocesan and General Synods, so it is important that churches choose their representatives carefully.

A Standing and Pastoral Committee acts as an executive committee for the Synod to ensure that the work of the Deanery continues effectively between Synod meetings and that the Synod's business is properly prepared.
